May 8th 2007 Meeting

May 8th SEVA Meeting at a Mosaic Community Coffee House, and Public Meeting Room

May 8th SEVA Meeting

It’s just getting better and better. By Bruce Sherry’s count ( thanks Bruce) we had 45 people last night. This even exceeds last month.

The HOT topic was the Microsoft Cascadia Conference, and the following articles in the PI and the Times. Both of which had little or NO mention of our local (SEVA) involvement, or that the majority of the electric and PHEV vehicles on Display were from OUR ORGANIZATION. I urge you all to Write the PI and the TIMES and ask them Why there was no reference to the Local Organizations, and that you would Love to get in contact with them.. ( rather than ranting and raving on them AS a SEVA member….)

I thought the conference itself was very good. Lots of local political types, Mayors, County Executives, even US Congress people, ( by live call in interview) All very much in favor of Plug-In Hybrids, and the impending problems with World Oil Supply, CO2 build up and Global Warming. Local problems with climate change for us here in the Pacific NW was brought out time and time again. Water Shortage, and Hydro Power comes from snow pack… The case for efficiency of EVs and PHEVs was made over and over again.

We then turned our attention to the UW, and the Alt. Fuel car show today. We may have at least 3 cars there.

Then we discussed the increase in COST of each and every car in the Greenwood Car Show this year. It has gone up to $45.per car. We decided to GO FOR IT any way, and if individuals can donate $10. or $20 of their fee, the Club will pick up the Rest as we have in the past. So far we had a show of hands for 9 entries. I would LOVE to see at least 15 or so, with participation from our sister clubs in Vancouver BC and Portland. John W. ?? White Zombie ?? Randy Holmquist ?? Of course the SEVA BBQ at my house is ON, come one come all…

Dave Cloud gave a great report of all his Electrathon racing over the last few weeks. Boy what a busy guy.

Dan Davids is doing a wonderful job selling Boschaert’s book "Plug-In Hybrids" at $15. a copy, which is a good savings over the Amazon.com price, and he is also donating some of the proceeds back to the SEVA treasury, which is probably going to help us a lot, towards “Gasless on Greenwood 2007”

Lots of good questions were asked from the large group of New Members, and I think that their concerns were met.. And as the meeting broke up into various groups, the discussions continued, way past our 9 pm curfew. Again the folks at Mosaic Coffee shop were very cordial, and we will be meeting there again on June 12th.
