Lost message...

This appeared on Feb 10th 2006 and appears to be a reply to something, though I'm not sure what...

thank you for your comments on the atds

i think your impression comes from 3 situations:

1)"alternative fuel " in the press release and for doe means to include electric vehicles and always has. 2)as a long term attendee and road poster at all the atds, i can attest to the initial and continued interest in all electric and particularly all solar (renewable) vehicles. the lack of oem, prototype and to some extent conversions recently is not the fault of the tour or its desires, but merely a reflection of the times. if you have an all electric vehicle , please enter it. you will be rewarded handsomely particularly if it runs on renewable electic. 3)i see no need to pick a fight with your needless chip on the shoulder, given how urgently the country and electric vehicles need proven support. for instance, the tour was instrumental in putting to bed the electric range issue several tours ago with the 300+ mile range of the solectria sunrise prototype. i really appreciate your decision not to call for a boycott, however there is no need to be sad. the tour continues to support all electrics and encourages their participation.

if you look over the past results at http://www.tourdesol.org you will find the scoring system greatly benefits efficient "well to wheels " and all electrics have a clear advantage. it is clear that hybrids have exposed the advantages of electric drive to the public and they are now clamboring for more of it (electric drive) and less fossil fuel as evidenced by the plugin hybrid hype...

hopefully we will see you and many more electric drive vehicles at the tour . this year promises to be a record setting and pivotal year --drew gillett, p.e.
