=June 9th 2009 Meeting

Under the STARS and On the Grass......

Under extreme conditions, but still very good. The church which we meet in had a fire in an adjacent room from a accident while plumbers were doing copper pipe soldering with torches. Smoke damage has closed the church for several weeks. We received the news at 10 am. I sent out the A.P.B. and I am sure some folks stayed home. But with such a warm June evening, we had no fewer than 9 NINE Electric cars and 4 Pri’i to include a new 2010 model.

Much time was spent in the parking lot till after 7:30 The business part of the meeting was taken on the steps to the Church.

First order of business was the Gasless on Greenwood. We handed out a dozen applications, and 6 were turned in and paid for ( $10 donation for locals) Here is the List:

Steve Lough ( either his Insight, or Kent’s Li-Ion VW Beetle);

For the New Comers, I forgot to mention our time tested entry plan: We meet at the big Dirt Parking Lot just off of 50th Street North, and Whitman Ave. North, just south of Woodland Park At or near 6:30 Folks who have trailers and such leave them there. We then DRIVE to our designated street address and vacant lot at Greenwood Ave and Our Display 83rd St. and 84th St. about mid block on the west side of the street.

I then reported on Wenatchee PowerUP 2 day conference, and on our trip to L.A. to take in Chris Paine, Director of WKtEC, and his house warming Party for a few folks ( about 300 + 5 Bars, 3 bands, and a belly dancer !!!)

Stephen Johnson and cousin reported on their trip to Europe and Norway and EVS-24. They got to see the new Mitsubishi EV, and the TH!nk EV and the (GM) Opel versions of the Chev Volt.

We reminded folks of the July 12th EV Rally to celebrate the Alaska Yukon Centennial, and our participation.

Also the Wayland Invitational on July 24th and 25th. I have a Room BOOKED, and would gladly split it with some one ( who does not snore…) $35. Not Bad. Close to the Track. For Friday Night

We reported on South Seattle Community College’s up-coming schedule of EV Classes which start this month and run through August. Check their web site for Details: www.LearnAtSouth.org or call 206 764 5339

Dave Cloud reported on his withdrawal form the X-Prize. More paper work than it was worth. He is going to refocus on the business side of his EV Involvement. He will still be participating in many Electrathon Events round the country however.

Rich Rudmand reported on Manzanita Micro, and their on going project with Super Chargers, and electric Taxi charging. Really HIGH POWER scary stuff.

Tilor Folsom reported on a plan for hybrid bicycles with dedicated right-of-way roads. He will be forwarding his Web Site to me for those interested.

Bob Powell, a new 2010 Prius owner, reported on some interesting seminars being put on by Toyota on Prius technology. He also mentioned he has a friend on Vashon who does some detail metal cutting and fabrication. His web site is: www.vashonimageworks.com

As always, I urge you to ADD YOUR own Two Cents, if I have left out anything, either by just sending a PS to the e-mail List, or Editing the SEVA Web Site Posting.
