Feb 14th Meeting
Was a cool evening, with 10 folks showing up. But very informative and lively.
Of course we went over Steven and Ryan’s trip to Wenatchee on the 13th to work with the Port of Chelan County and their initiative to bring PHEV’s to the valley. This was their first Technical Strategy Meeting, and it was very POSATIVE. They REALLY want to put some PHEV’s on the road. Their goal is to put a Prius PHEV On the road, to use as a show case to interest colleges, business, and municipalities To embrace the technology. People we are working with now: Ron Johnston-Rodriguez Economic Development Director for the Port of Chelan County, Jim White, Chelan County PUD Service engineer, Blake Murray, Program Director Auto Tech., Wenatchee Valley College, Tim Campbell and Dick Wynder – Auto Tech Instructors for the No. Central Technical Skills Center…. And many others. There were over 20 people in attendance (As a side light… Jim White, a Prius Owner, was the guy who organized the Solar Electric Drag Racing EVent last year.. Other than telling them all about SEVA, Ryan Fulcher Was our STAR, explaining all the info and schematics from CalCars to the group, plus Showing them his Prius, with its UP-Graded screen display hardware and software. Earlier that day we were taken to lunch, and had an opportunity to do a 20 minute Radio interview at KOHO-FM They STREAM on the internet, and Ms. Chris Rayder Has BURNED us a copy of the interview, but will also let us know when the interview Will be broadcasted, so any one with Web Access can listen in over the Web. Can’t say Enough GOOD things about our collaboration with Wenatchee… They want us to bring Over examples of converted EVs and will probably be Glad to foot the bill for the trip.
Our SEVA meeting covered a report from Dave Cloud and Don Crabtree on the Fate of Brother Steve Cloud, and that their business is moving to So. Carolina. We discussed A lot about various approaches to the PHEV technology. i.e. how to interface Larger Battery packs, and the existing Prius technology. Mostly it is FOOLing the Prius computer To USE all the charge in the Large battery pack. And of course Re-Charging at home. Ryan Fulcher brought a Millwaukee 28V Li-Ion pack he bought, with charger, and we Hooked it up to a E-Tek Motor that Dave Cloud had. Spun Reeeeel Gooood !
EDITORIAL MODE: As we have said when we returned from the EV Conference in Vancouver BC last December, the ultimate goal for electric vehicles in the foreseeable future, is the concept of the Plug-In Hybrids. Especially if they are powered by Wind Power generated electricity, and the ICE engine might be powered by local Bio-Diesel or Ethanol..
This would give the Owner absolute freedom from foreign oil, and almost eliminate carbon emissions.
That is about it for now. Next Meeting, Same Place, Same time ..March 14th, 06
