Stephen thanked Kent Bakke for bringing several unique cars and the coffee truck, plus the 1922 Detroit Electric.<\/p>\n<p>\u00b7         SEVA Secretary Grace Reamer reported that SEVA showed seven vehicles for the first time at the Burien Father\u2019s Day car show on June 21.<\/p>\n<p>\u00b7         SEVA Vice President Paul Kahle took a display down to the Oregon Country Fair again last weekend and showed two electric bikes in the energy park, which included a lot of solar displays.<\/p>\n<p>\u00b7         COMING UP \u2013 Yakima Valley Trolleys will have a July 18 work party to clean up the tracks, and the city council will be voting on grant funding. Green River Community College will have a car show on Aug. 23, including motorcycles and bikes. Also on Aug. 23, SEVA members are invited to show vehicles at the Cruisin\u2019 Kent Car Show from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Kent Station &#8211; https:\/\/carshowpro.com\/event\/3172.<\/p>\n<p>CONVERSION PROJECT &#8211; David Lewis, automotive tech instructor at Green River Community College, shared details and showed his recent conversion of a 2000 Subaru Legacy. He bought a wrecked 2016 LEAF for the donation to replace the blown motor in the Subaru. He was able to complete the project in two months at a cost of a little over $6,000, although he will continue to make improvements to the cabin heat, air conditioning and battery placement. He also noted that his new EV tech class starts in September and will be in session on Monday and Wednesday nights at GRCC. He also shared his recent week-long experience with the Weber State University conversion program with professor John Kelly in Utah. One shop there is dedicated to EVs and has 20 different cars, from BEVs to hybrids.<\/p>\n<p>NEXT MEETING \u2013 The Aug. 11 SEVA meeting will be at the marine building next to the Bakke Coffee Museum in Ballard at 4600 Shilshole Ave. Rivian will be presenting about electric bikes and will have some to try out.
