September 8th 2009 Meeting

It was Warm and Dry inside the Sanctuary at the Revenna U.M. Church. And beyond a shadow of a doubt having $300,000.00 worth of Electric Cars parked close by in the neighborhood, was a point of great interest for neighbors. ( see pictures at :

It was nice to have power to use our Digital Projector. We reviewed pictures from the Alaska Yukon EV-ent, and our visit to Chris Paine’s Marrakech house warming party in LA, and the Wayland Invitational.

We discussed the up-coming EV-ents in October 3rd, and the Green Expo on the 9th, and the EV show at Lake Forest Park on Sunday the 20th. Also Dave Barden put out an EV-ite for folks to visit Vashon Island this week end, Saturday the 12th, where a hand full of EV’s will be part of an energy show.

Roger Wright brought a guest, Paul Zalud from Pacific Grand Prix to talk about their race track out at Pacific Race Way, and EV Charging and how our group might utilize the facility.

Don Father Time Crabtree gave a brief report on some troubling things in the World of EV Drag Racing. Seems like folks are building these miniature EV Rail Dragsters, some times called Jr. Dragsters, but are turning over 100 mph in the quarter. Don feels that Track Safety officials should tighten their rules on such vehicles. After all, Jr. Dragsters should not exceed 80 mph according to Don.

Jeff Finn did not make the meeting, but we brought to our Packed House crowd, that the call has gone out to get involved with State EV Politics. Please review the e-mail Jeff sent last week, and the LINKS he sent along.

Reminded folks about the Nissan LEAF link, and how to sign up for LEAF news. At some time in the future they will probably include an Advanced Sales Order List. I want mine in RED !!

The meeting space was great. We THANK the Revenna U.M. Church for opening their doors for us. There were only a few negatives. Street parking, in stead of Parking LOT. And no Burger Joint over the Fence. Inside the acoustics were OK for my booming voice, but when folks in the pews stood up to speak, some folks could not make out what was being spoke. Chuck Bensen may have a small portable PA system which might fill the gap.

AS time goes on, I am sure, I have left something out. So once more, I invite any one and everyone to add to the meeting minutes as they see fit.

Till October 13th….
