September 9th 2008 Meeting

It was a record for Electric Vehicles in the parking lot. I counted 10 TEN !!! Attendance almost broke 70!

Lots of EVents to talk about… In chronological order:

Sep. 13 Saturday, Green Edmonds Festival… The Show runs from 11am till 6 pm. Move in at between 7 am and 11 am. Contact Person Kathy Gerke at 206 660 1319

Then a really busy week end coming the end of September: Many Conflicts Tesla Roadster show to come to Seattle Sep 26-27-28. Location to be determined Sustainable Ballard EV Show Sep 27, 28 with Speaking engagement Saturday the 27th Chris Pains – Fund Riser – Birthday Party in L.A. Sep. 27th ( any chance I could be CLONED to be in all 3 places at the same Time ?? ) Then Come OCTOBER: National Alt Fuel Vehicle Day Odyssey 2008 at Shoreline Com. College. ( More on this later)

Craig Benjan from Sustainable Ballard was present and made a pitch for EV’s to come and participate September 27th and 28th

The really HOT item was the fact that Tesla is bringing a Road Show to Seattle, that same week end. Several members ( James Morrison, Noel Aquino and others are trying to arrange a big FAST parking lot for the Demo Rides to take place. We will keep you POSTED.

Then we talked about the wonderful News Paper article in the Tuesday morning Seattle PI, and how our wonderful Debera Harrell, with much help from Daniel Davids, and Steve Lough got the story RIGHT this time.

2008.09.09 - seattlepi.nwsource.com High-tech vehicles growing more common in region - Plug-in cars give owners a real jolt of satisfaction By DEBERA CARLTON HARRELL

Daniel, Steve, and Stephen J. also did a good review of the two day Discovery/Microsoft conference last Thursday and Friday. Most every one in the EV community was there, and you should check out their web site for video clips from the conference. Of special note, Shay Gassy of “Better Place”, Dr, Andy Frank, the Father of the modern PHEV, R. James Woolsey x-CIA and energy and security expert, King Co. Exec – Ron Sims, Our own STAR of WKtEC – Chelsea Sexton, CalCars – Felix Kramer, and many many more…

Then we introduced a new item… Tech Talk from one of our members who has converted a car. First UP - Brian Hugues, and a nice slide show and story of how he built his MR2 EV

We also got an update on Stephen Johnsons twin engine Zilla powered Electric Fierrro. It’s FAST.

Don “Father Time” Crabtree gave a sobering report that NEDRA is looking for both a President and V.P. All the political turmoil has left the N.W. with no big NEDRA races this year.

Barbara Demeral gave a report on a whole bunch of up-coming classes on EV’s and the like. For both South Seattle CC and North Seattle CC. Check their respective web sites for dates and subjects.

Special THANKS again to Guy Berthelote for the sound system and Hans for the video projector.

This coming Tuesday, Sep. 18th, we will have another meeting of the Eco Motion EV Biz. Group down stairs in the coffee shop.

As always once this is POSTED to the EV Web Site, you can modify the Post, Add things I may have forgot, or make corrections as you see fit.
