Business covered  Our involvement at the GREEN FESTIVAL April 12, 13th at the Washington Convention Center is SET, thanks to Plug In America sharing the expense.  We will have a booth, and there will be panel discussion with yours truly, Steve Lough, and Chelsea Sexton from WKtEC, and Shefali Ranganathan, information officer from Transportation Choices in Conference Room 2, on Sunday 4/13 at 2 pm.  I am still perusing the possibility of showing an actual EV or Two..  In communicating with her today, she tells me that the City of Seattle is to have an EV on display ( ??  any one know what they have acquired ??)  Will keep you posted.

Daniel Davids reported on National goings-on in California with Plug-In-America, and the ZEV Mandate and the California Air Resources Board (CARB).  Seems that they might again get Cold FEET on EVs, so we should all write and encourage them to Promote EVs not cut them back again…  I sent out earlier today a memo from EAA H.Q. on this matter.

A young man by the name of Spencer, from Vashon Island, put a pitch into help him with his EV Project, which once complete will be donated to the Island.  As a high school student, he has gathered $8000, and needs just $3000 more to put his Nissan EV Project into High Gear.  Hope he responds with an e-mail, for I did not get his full name, or phone number or e-mail address….    Sorry.

March 11th 2008 Meeting

March 11th SEVA Meeting in the BIG ROOM

AS always.... If I have left out something important here below, please feel free to ADD or Correct my meeting minutes...

Things are Looking up for The Electric Car Movement. We now have space for over a 100 people, and with Oil at over $100. a barrel, and gas approaching $4. A gallon, and ( if I could be political for a moment) the WAR costing $$ Billions a month… I see nothing but increased interest in Alternatives.

Representative from Green My Ride, Jennifer Woods came to our meeting again, and took with her a sign-up sheet for I think 5 or more SEVA members who will show their cars at “Green My Ride” in the Phinney Neighborhood on Saturday, April 26th. Further INFO at: http://www.greenmyride.info/ and EVents 2008 04 26.

Steve Mayeda from MC Electric Cars came to invite us all to a Clean Car Rally they are going to hold at their dealership on Dearborn Street, on Saturday May 3rd. They are closing down on EV Sale #100, and they are inviting all their customers back for a kind of EV Reunion, and of course any SEVA folks are also invited. There should be Lots of Press. See EVents 2008 05 03 for the latest details.

Sorry.

Then turning to technical matters Dave Cloud reported on his progress with Jeff Finn’s Geo Metro conversion, which he drove all the way to the meeting. Some small finishing touches, and a Lime Green Paint Job, and it will be ready for Show-N-Tell. Jeff has a web site showing the process at: http://VoltRunner.com

Bruce Sherry gave a brief description of his very sophisticated Battery/ EVMonotor device. Several SEVA folks have bought and installed them, and are very happy to have the additional info, even at $400/per.

Rich Rudman gave a report on his continuing testing of ThunderSky Li-Ion 40ah cells. They are still very close to original spec making 28 of 30Ah, even after over 2350 cycles. Unfortunately the TS cells which were available for $0.50/Wh are currently costing upwards of $1.10/Wh via the new US distributer.

And then came the really Great Part of our new meeting place. Our own Key, Our own Exit, and no specific time constraints. Interested sub groups hung round and talked till almost 10 pm.

Next month, April 8th, I will be out of Seattle, so the meeting will be jointly chaired by Stephen Johnson, Danial Davids, and John Frost. Have a great Spring into Spring!
