Introduction to Electric Bicycles

There have been many new developments in electric bicycles. Do you want to buy a purpose-built bike, install a conversion kit, or build the whole thing from scratch? What about motor, battery, and power controller selection? Do you want a pedal-assist system, power-on-demand hybrid, or a dedicated electric motorcycle? Should it have two, three, or even four wheels? Should you consider aerodynamics or weather protection? How about cargo or room for an extra passenger? What are the local ordinances governing the use of electric bikes? These are some of the questions this two-hour introductory course will cover.

AC Drives for Electric Vehicles

Saturdays - October 18th and 25th, 2008 - 2 sessions - 9:00 AM - 1:30 PM
Location: South Seattle Community College
Class Fee: $75

Learn of the advantages and disadvantages of DC and AC motors. Gain valuable insight and knowledge of how AC drives work and how to apply to vehicles. Class will provide hands-on operating demonstration of a variable-frequency drive (VFD) and other electric motors. Class is co-sponsored by the Seattle Electric Vehicle Association.
