Class Description:
Hear the advantages and disadvantages of all forms of electric vehicles including street vehicles, both freeway capable and NEV's (Neighborhood Electric Vehicles) electric racing, electric boats, electric assisted bicycles, and scooters. Bio-Diesel, Ethanol,CNG, wind power, and solar power, and especially the vibrant movement toward Plug-In Hybrid cars will be discussed. Your instructor, Steven Lough, has been a leader in the Electric Vehicle field for over 29 years. His family GM Dealership took on a line of commercially built electric vehicles back in 1980. A handout listing resources for seeing, obtaining, converting, and repairing electric vehicles will be given to each student. Because things are changing so fast you may want to take this class over and over - every time it is offered.
+
Come gain tips and design considerations for an electric vehicle battery box. Talk about the purpose, the materials to use, placement in the vehicle and access needed depending on the type of batteries used.
