Thanks for visiting!
This workshop guides you through the complete process of converting a

vehicle from a gasoline engine to electric power. Morning classroom

sessions will be combined with afternoon hands-on shop sessions. By the

end of the workshop, the group will have completed one running electric

car conversion capable of highway speeds and 40-60 mile range

per charge.  Short multiple daily charges can increase your range.

You will learn the principles behind good component layout, battery

rack, and box design and construction, and wiring, with hands-on

experience installing the components. You will also learn how to apply

these principles to different types of vehicles, and learn about the

differences between AC and DC drive systems, and different types of

batteries. Each student will receive a copy of the book "Convert It"

Topics Include

  * Safety

  * Expected performance

  * Designing & fabricating support structures

  * Choosing a suitable chassis

Instructors:

Mike Brown and Shari Prange are owners of Electro Automotive

(www.electroauto.com), founded in 1979 as a parts supplier for home

built electric vehicle conversions. Mike Brown had many years of

experience in automotive service and repair, engine building, and race

car building before turning exclusively to electric conversions. He and

his wife Shari Prange co-authored the book "'Convert It", which has long

been the primary how-to reference book for conversions. They have taught

many electric vehicle classes and workshops, written for "Home Power"

magazine, and now serve as transportation editors for "Home Power".

Other members of the Seattle EV Community will also be present

to aid in the process.
