I believe the reason the current needs to be reduced is to prevent damage to the *regulator*, not the batteries. The regulator dissipates the excess current as heat, and it can only dissipate so many watts before it burns up. The batteries, on the other hand, are sized to handle the large currents needed to move a heavy vehicle.&lt;br /&gt;
