		+	SEVA Meeting Minutes: June 11, 2013, –Called to order. Officers introduced. 55 persons in attendance.

		+	BUILD IT, AND THEY WILL COME -- We saw a GREAT mix of EVs in the parking lot during the pre-meeting "show and tell." We had two Tesla-S sedans (thank you Kent B. and Matt M.), a new Ford Fusion Energi PHEV (thank you new member Kerry W.), and a very unusual new NEV, a three-passenger head-turner with sliding doors (thank-yous to MC-EV), and our ever-faithful Nissan Leaf contingent was there in force.

		+	COUNCILMEMBER LARRY PHILLIPS (Introduced by Grace Reamer) – Representing King County Council District 4 (which we are in) and a long-time champion of environmental issues. He is also the chair of the Transportation, Economy and Environment committee and the Regional Water Quality committee. Councilmember Phillips mentioned (among other green concerns) his commitment to working on the “greening” of transportation, including electric trolleys and promoting EVs. He was the first King County Councilmember to drive a Prius converted by our folk to PHEV-electric car.
		+	King County has the largest county-owned EV fleet, and is committed to growing the presence of charging stations. As a policy-setting organization, King County is determined to take the mystery out of EV driving, and to promote positive changes in the climate and the environment.
		+	Councilmember Phillips took a moment to answer questions about charging at apartments and high-density housing, the tax issues surrounding car-sharing services, EV charging requirements and incentives in Building Codes, increasing EVs as part of Seattle’s municipal fleet, modifying Metro buses so they can carry more electric bicycles (there is a plan in place), government leasing versus buying EVs (what happens to the $7,500 credit?), divesting King County from petroleum dollars (as Snohomish County has done with tobacco investments), and getting EVs to qualify for the Commute Trip Reduction Program. We are fortunate to have an advocate at the county level for EV and climate change issues, so let's keep up attention and visibility for SEVA issues.

		+	DR. YORAM BAUMAN (introduced by Mike Eddy) – Here to speak on behalf of Carbon Awareness Washington. Dr. Bauman would like to introduce a carbon tax that would generate about $2.3B a year for Washington State, and using the money to reduce the sales tax, eliminate B&O tax for manufacturers, and create other tax offsets as well. This policy already exists in Vancouver, B.C. It is commonly called Net Zero, where one tax is offset by lowering taxes in another area.
		+	AWARD TIME! Jeff Finn and Steve Lough took great pleasure in presenting the Super Electric Vehicle Advocate award to David Cloud this year, to a thunderous ovation. Dave Cloud has been one of the most prolific EV builders and racers we have. Congratulations, Dave!

		+	GREENWOOD HOT ROD SHOW – The June Meeting was our LAST regular meeting before “Gasless on Greenwood 2013”. We handed out seven additional applications to those members who thrive on The Last Minute. We now have approximately twenty-one entries. We have a STELLAR location, thanks to Walgreens of Greenwood who will be lending us the greater portion of their parking lot, just north of 87th St. We will also have space for 5-6 cars Greenwood, facing the Walgreens parking lot. We will be right across the street from the hydroplane exhibit at Safeway (always a big draw). With many of our members out of town on show day, President Steve has graciously offered the use of his home for the “After Party.” Head over to 6021 32nd Ave NE. The Club will have hot dogs, burgers, and some sodas; you are encouraged to bring along other picnic fare, and your favorite libations, etc.
		+	KCTS-9/Pacific Science Center’s “Science Café” came off without a hitch on June 4th. Presentations from Steve, Stephen, Jeff, and Scott went a bit long, so no time for the planned Q & A session. KCTS-9 will have video of the event posted soon. Look on their website, under “Science Cafe”

		+	NEW BADGES (Jeff Finn) – New badges are out. Nine orders were taken. If you missed this chance, get with Jeff Finn to order yours.!

		+	EVENTS – It’s summer, and new events (shows, rallies, parades, exhibits) keep coming at us fast and furious. Too numerous to write down here, but do check in with the SEVA website for the latest information.

		+	CENTER FOR WOODEN BOATS -- The electric boat display was popular, and people were encouraged to come back and display for the Wooden Boat Festival, which takes place July 4-7. In fact, there is talk about forming “SEBA” … the Seattle Electric Boat Association.

		+	RAFFLE – VEVA is raffling off a refubbished ZAPP 3-wheeler electric car, and tickets will be on sale at the Greenwood Auto Show. A wonderful opportunity to get a deal on an electric car. Tickets will be $5. each, and odds will top off at 1000 to One or better.
		+
		+	BUCKS FOR CHUCK -- Chuck Bensen won the meeting raffle, after many years of buying many tickets. Congratulations, Chuck! The break-out discussions after the formal meeting were well attended, with the meeting officially ending at 9:30 pm.
		+
		+	YOUR TURN -- We try to keep these meeting minutes informative and complete. We thank our Recording Secretary Kevin Boze for creating 99% of what you see here.
