==August 9th 2011 Meeting==

Moving Planet Seattle is a big demonstration showing other methods of transportation which don't use fossil fuels. They'd like electric vehicles from 12:30 to 2:00PM on Sep 24. See http://www.moving-planet.org/Seattle

Deb Seymour sang her Zoe ZENN car song for us! Also released her "Momma Wears a Hard Hat" album which features this song.

Stephen Johnsen finally brought his electric Fiero to a SEVA meeting. He's also found a J1772 car-end unit which is rated for the full 80A and costs about $220. We had a discussion regarding charge stations and voltage and current limits. If anyone finds a non-working charge station, nobody here knows anything.

Jay Donnaway wants to know when we're going to get a charge station at the Mosaic for our cars! Steve says he needs to talk to the guy upstairs to find out.

South Seattle Community College is starting another run of classes in this October. Check out http://www.learnatsouth.org/index.cfm?method=ClassListing.ClassListingDisplay&int_category_id=3&int_sub_category_id=125

Are you a SEVA and Electro Auto Association member? If not, see https://electricauto.site-ym.com/general/register_start.asp

On Oct 2, the Cruise the Ave benefit for They Shall Walk will be featuring electric cars. See http://www.cruisingsotheyshallwalk.org/ for more information.

Electric Transitions Development had about 80 attendees the first day of their big presentation, more the second. Lots of great questions from the audience and engaging presentations by special guests John Wayland and James Billmaier, along with Tom True and Steve Lough (you guys might be special but you aren't really guests!).

Website is http://electrictransitions.org/

Just a few additions by Steve Lough:

Yes, we did discuss the seminar in Kent, and the partisipation was closer to 100, both days, and it was GREAT to hear from John Wayland and the "White Zombie" and James Billmaier of "JOLT" fame.

Also I think it was noteworthy, that there were a total number of "LEAF's of SEVEN ( 7 ) leafs... Wow ! Up from
6 LEAF's last month.

Also that we had two young ladies from the Sierra Club to give us some additional details about "Moving Planet Seattle" on Sep. 24th. A very ambitious undertaking with various Enviro. EVents all day long. SEVA folks may be involved in both a (Non-Carbon) Parade, as well as a static display. Details to follow.

Eric Hovland brought the Body of his Formual EVee " . Pictures at: http://www.diyelectriccar.com/garage/cars/239
I personally LOVE the natural wood. And we had a Straw Poll of SEVA members as to wheter Eric should keep the body Natural Wood finish, or paint it as he is planning. Most SEVA folks loved the Natural Wood finish.
( Eric... it is still YOUR CALL... of course...)

Less Kneww.. (sp) The fellow who invited us to the "Cruz" on October 2nd, which is a Fund Raiser for an ORG. called "They Shall Walk" who are developing mechanical walking aparatus for Vet's who have lost use of their laggs,,, . These mechanical legs are powered by compressed air ( from a SCUBA tank..) ? ? Not electricity... hummmmmm. He also gave us a HEADS UP on the opening of yet another Charging Station at the SEARS store out at 155th and Aurora on September 9th. They would like as many EV's as can show UP. It is the FIRST SEARS store in the Nation to have a EVSE ( Electric Vehicle Supply Equipment)

Also we will be soon invited to be at a Press EVent when AAA brings out their Mobile Emergency EVSE Truck according to one Jennifer cook, National Media coordinator for Tripple A.

Happy Mardi Gras!

Jeff Finn had an update on SSB 551. It should be dead, but the Senator Haugan can still add it to the Transportation Budget. The VMT suggestion is most likely dead. Jeff will follow up with us on what we should do next to defeat or modify the proposed bill.

Joe Justice from WIKISPEED ( www.wikispeed.com ) gave a presentation on how his team appeared. He started building a fun, efficient car in his garage. Other people came by, and grew into a worldwide all-volunteer team. His car is all modular, capable of any drivetrain or other parts. It has been crash simulated and passed. He used the principles of quick and easy modifications (in software, called agile). Rob Beresford presented on the WIKISPEED's technical specs. They are interested in having someone(s) develop an electric drive system in 40"x40"x24" space. Please contact info@wikispeed.com if you are interested!

Steve Johnsen presented the upcoming EV conversion class at South Seattle Community College. Check out www.learnatsouth.org
Contact http://nafaps.org/ or melody.bennett@kingcounty.gov

Tyler Marshall talked about his experience with his new Nissan Leaf. Apparently, it drives like a car but it's faster.

Dan Davids presented for Plug-In America. Loved driving the Ford Transit Connect electric conversion. Check out their website www.pluginamerica.org Mentioned the "Plugshare" application for fancy phones.

Tom True and Roger Wright talked about their 11,000 sq ft in which they are putting an electric vehicle service technicians training school. They are moving along and would appreciate help with non-profit fundraising.

==February 8th 2011 Meeting==

We've been discussing the proposed $100/year EV tax law. We had a long discussion of our planks --
* Too Early - Not enough EVs
* No excessive regressive taxes
* Fees based on VMT (self reporting)

Basically a rehash of what's gone over the SEVA e-list about opposing the tax. (EVs shouldn't be taxed because they're new and better than gas, VMT is fair, NEVs and scooters would be overtaxed, etc) End result, we had a vote on Jeff Finn's VMT proposal for the Senate. About 60 for, 5 against. Approved.

Upcoming events:
* SEVA could go to Green Festival and split with Plug-In America (PIA)
* June 4&5 - Mother Earth festival in Puyallup
* Robert Beiser with Hillel at UW going to do EV conversion; having a meeting and would like help/advice! Wednesday at 4745 17th Ave NE; e-mail robert@hilleluw.org
* April 19-21, EDTA show in WA DC

Nominated people for SEVA officers:
* President: Steve Lough
* Vice-President: Stephen Johnsen
* Secretary: Cory Cross
* Treasurer: Chuck Bensen

Daniel Davids, Plug In America President stood up and said "All in Favor of the New Board Members as nominated
Say "Aye" and they did... Congratulations to all the new Board Members. We will report to EAA H.Q. with the Results.

Video on a wireless charging (OLEV) strips in the highway; proposal in Korea.

Ivan Workman with EV Support mentioned installing some Eaton chargers in Auburn, and are doing an opening ceremony with the public invited. They have an electric Ford Transit Connect at the ceremony. Also co-sponsored by SEVA!
February 25 (Friday) 9-10:30AM
1604 15th St SW Suite 114, Auburn, WA
