What is a neuton mower??

What is torqe demand of tractor drive and of the blade (not to get too technical mind you but if you dont know the torque you are dead in the water).  What size is the gas engine on existing riding unit.  What is RPM?  If you know these values then you can derive a guess for torque.  OR take a guess and divide engine HP by 2 and use that to select motor HP.  If you can match RPM for RPM assuming you go with a single motor.

Where do you live.  May be interested in participating.

Aneuton mower is an all electric Battery operated one from the Manufacturer it runs on a 24volt battery run time is 45-55 mins depending on cutting conditons. I have a large yard about an acre so I have 4 batteries to do the whole yard, this time a year is the toughest I usually end up mowing several days a week just to keep it up to my wifes standard of manicured perfection. This is why I am looking for a battery operated rider..The one I mentioned earlier is a 10hp I don't know the other figures you asked for but could get the info just by looking at the motor nameplate which I will do today later, I live in Yelm which is 15 miles se of olympia.I am thinking of coming to the next meeting just to network with folks about becoming knolegable in this electric conversion stuff. As I drive around my area down here I see alot of dead riding riding mowers just sitting in people places rusting away. I wa thinking if I could just get these all running again by recycling them into and electric version maybe someone would like to use them again..You can check out the Neuton mowers on www.DRpower.com

Have had the same thoughts regarding converting riding mowers.
Have given some thought on how to drive attachments ie tillers etc etc maybe ithis is more appropriate to the "medium" size units ie 20 30 HP.
1 acre??  Gang reel mower maybe??
Based on 10 HP gas you would need 5 HP motor.
Dont see too many dead mowers around Seattle

Dan,
Maybe in the downtown area the yards are not large enough for a riding mower..But in the outlying areas they sure are.. I live in a rural setting and this is where you are most likely to find the dead mowers..So would someone be willing to help me with this project of converting a gas to an electric mower? I would like to see how one would go just to get an idea of what is involved to see if I would like to do more as something to fill in my time while I am searching for new employment.Being Laidoff from Boeing as of March this year my wife wanted me to just draw unemployment till I get things caught up around the house.I am so tired of pushing a lawnmower around my acre lawn I am in need of a rider one so now is the time to rebuild one to electric all I need is someone willing to help me get started and supervise my activities..
