Hell gang,
So I've heard a few people mention how EV's are only as clean and non-polluting as their plug in source. Are there any side by side comparisons or hard numbers equating total pollution for gas vehicles vs. electric vehicles? ie, for every 1 mile that I drive my Subaru BLANK amount of pollution is pumped into the globe, including not only tailpipe but refining, transporting gasoline, etc.
Any resources that could get me started would be awesome!

thanks,
stueve

Cassarrette and Doull "Handbook of Toxicology"
"Alcoholism is the most widely written topic in medical literature about which the least is understood"

I am sure the same is true for EV and the emissions argument.
For myself I could care less because
it is something I want to do
I am paying less in operating cost
I don't support another huge corporations
Yes I am supporting the utility but I choose to do that anyway - when I can beat their price for power I will.

There are all sorts of studies on this question.
I believe that a coal plant at around 50% efficiency and no scrubbers will beat any gasoline engine for emissions on  a Kw to Kw basis.
A coal plant with proper emissions control systems would be even better.
