The state of Oregon has begun work on the nation's first solar highway - a $1.3 million demonstration project that will help illuminate the Interstate 5 and Interstate 205 interchange in Tualatin, OR using 8,000 square feet of solar panels. The solar panels will be supplied by SolarWorld AG of Hillsboro and the inverter will be supplied by PV Powered Inc. of Bend.

Washington state is falling farther behind other states as a "Green" state.

I agree. I like to think of my home state of Washington being the next greenest state compared to California...but only MAYBE as it relates to EVs. Many other states that have a lot less red tape (like Oregon), can quickly get things done like this. Hats off to our Oregon brethren . I think WA will get a big boost next couple of years though as folks can get solar panels made locally (Arlington, WA), and take advantage of good incentives. I only say good b/c it's capped @ 2k a year...but none the less, solar is coming...would be nice to see WA get more aggresive in promoting it's widespread use.
