First off, I like this forum layout much better than the Wiki-thing.  I find the Wiki format far too confusing and difficult to navigate.  I like the forum/bbs format because it is much simpler to see everything all at once  instead of having to parse multiple links.  I often got lost and didn't know where to find thinkgs on the Wiki page.

Second, it seems that there should be a For Sale/Parts Wanted section.  Manufacturers could post there or people could post parts they wanted or wanted to sell.  Then cheapskates like me could find parts second-hand for less money and could afford to finally get started building an EV.   Wink

Thanks for your support of the forum.

I agree that we could use a for sale / wanted section. How does every one else feel?

I think for sale and wanted sections would be good. I'm pretty sure there will be a few category changes needed. After the post count starts to increase we will all see what categories work best.

Good point Paul. The forum categories are in good enough shape now that we can stand back and take a look at them before shuffling them around. In the meantime I guess we'd put them in the business or parts sections?

A for sale section is a must have, esp. for the Seattle area.  It would definitely help all of us out there looking for a used battery charger or speed controller.  Ebay is not the best place for these things, and craigslist barely ever has ev related stuff when I've checked.  EV trading post is ok but it seems pretty sad - last time I checked it out there were a few vehicles for sale that had been for sale for a while or a bunch still posted that had sold.............

please don't move my message?  just kidding.

WOOHOO!!!!  Thanks for making this new area!  I don't have the coin to go out and buy a full setup to convert my van, but maybe I can buy it piece by piece from folks selling used and second hand parts here.   Grin  Cheesy  Cool

My $0.02:

I definitely like a for sale/wanted area, but lets keep the categories broad, otherwise searching is a pain.  I would not expect a huge amount of volume anyway.  something like 1) all freeway capable EVs, 2) non-freeway capable EVs, 3) all gliders, 4) all parts, and finally 5) other.  Each could have wanted/for sale subcategories.   If possible we should also try to enforce local (pac NW) postings only.  The austin ev tradinpost is great but has too many categories and anything interesting to me is always someplace in ohio.
