This story about a solar powered car to drive around the world has been on youtube for a long time.

There are about 6000 dollars worth of solar panels on the back of the vehicle and I could build the whole "car" part of the vehicle out of spare car & motorcycle parts for less than 10,000 dollars.  Why doesn't Detroit do something like this?  I think at least a million people would buy this car if it cost less than 20k and I could build the thing for less than this.  The legislation in this country is silly and I'm surprised I don't hear more people talking about this sort of thing.  THe government must be spraying mood stabilizers on the general population at night again from spy aircraft...

No, you are not nuts. Far too few people are willing to speak up and let their representatives in government know what they are thinking. The end of production of ICE vehicles is long overdue.

The mind goes numb trying to figure out why it is so hard to break up the oil empire. I for one would like to see a few of the local deep pockets fund more of this sort of development. Gates & Allen of course come to mind as folks who could be dumping billions into our local economy by designing and producing an EV (not necessarily a Solar powered car) right here in Washington. Or start up a lithium battery manufacturing plant here...they could dump like 5 billion into it, selling them so cheap that the majors would not be able to say no - and then once the EVs get on the road and everyone else around the world starts making EVs part of their normal line up, then move towards breaking even / perhaps making money on them 10 years down the road. They already give so much money away to good causes...what better cause than to dethrone the titans of oil? (oh and help the environment tons) It just takes getting past a point of major consumer acceptance, then EVs will never go away.

I heard something on the radio the other day about them adding some big taxes to our (PSE) electric bills for green purposes...sounds like Electricity will soon be taxed as badly as gas is. Just another step to keep the money in the hands of the governments, which of course is by big business, for big business....it makes me so sick sometimes....
