Our Keynote Speaker was Ms Katie Chalmers from King County METRO, on the evaluation process to up grade and purchase New Trolley busses, OR consider Hybrid Diesel.  Of course the E-Trolleys have superior hill climbing ability, environmentally cleaner, and quieter, but they are more expensive to purchase.  The existing fleet is aging, and electronic replacement parts are unavailable.  Metro Shop folks have been repairing the electronics the old fashioned way,  One chip at a time, and jumping round bad PC Board connections.  Very labor intensive.

I made ONE MORE urgent Plea, to have some folks Help Me with the arrangements for the ZERO Race folks which will be coming through Seattle on or about November 5th 2010.  They need Charging Stations, they want plenty of MEDIA coverage, and they and their teams will need room and board.  Stephen Johnsen did volunteer to help, and Jim Johnson of MC-EV has volunteered to help with Charging.  So I guess we have a Start.

I reminded folks that I wish to Hold General Elections before the end of this year.  We presently do not have separate positions for Vice Pres, Secretary and Treasurer..  As our Organization grows, we NEED to have folks in these positions.  Nominations are NOW OPEN, and we hope to finalize before the December meeting.

Two Events which are not directly related to SEVA, but would be GREAT to attend if you are in California in October, are the Plug-In-America Fund Raiser at Chris Paine’s home on October 23rd, and the Green Ride and Drive on October 9th.

September 14th 2010 Meeting

Good Weather, FOURTEEN Electric Cars in the Parking Lot, and several e-bikes, and although the head count is not absolutely official.. for folks were coming in and out, looks like well over 70 folks attended.

Then several Wonderful reports on the EV Racing in Portland on 9/10-11 with pictures from Tom and Cathy Saxton, Stephen Johnsen and accounts from Dave Cloud, Roger Wright, and others. The video of the White Zombie doing Wheeleys, and pulling a 10.25 second quarter, at over 123 mph were fantastic. Here are a Web Address to see them for your self: ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oYyHXYbk6Z8 ) And 2000 still pictures at: (http://picasaweb.google.com/PIRPhotogal ) Wish I could have been there.

Nissan Leaf Ordering is under way now. And I counted a dozen SEVA folks who have put up the Big Bucks for their LEAF. Warren Raven recently POSTED (wrenfoto -at- hotmail.com ) that his home has been inspected and he has been approved for a FREE charging Station.

Way too many Events coming up to list them all here. Please go to our Current events Page at our Web Sight which Chad S. and I are trying to keep UP to Date.

And Presently there is a 2 Day Conference at Stanford in Palo Alto on the 3 state efforts to Electrify the I-5 corridor. We hope to have a report on this from Daniel Davids who will be speaking. I was invited but the cost of Air Fair, Hotel, Car Rental…. Just kind of shot me down.

This was not available Tuesday Evening, but Thanks to our member Roger Swearingen for sending the RESULTS of the X-Prize. At: ( http://www.progressiveautoxprize.org/news-events/press-releases/three-teams-awarded-share-10-million-purse-progressive-insurance-automotive-x-prize-super-fu & http://tinyurl.com/2esswbb ) Very Interesting.

As Always... If I have left something out, Please feel free to POST it to the SEVA e-mail, or go to our Web Sight and up date the meeting minutes there in.

Now lets see some folks step up and nominate for VP, Sec. And Treasurer...
