Our monthly meetings are held at the Church of the Nazarene above the Mosaic Community Coffee House.

Join us at our SEVA Meetings

Unless otherwise posted here, or sent out over the SEVA Maillist each Monthly Meeting is Held on the Evening of the Second Tuesday of each Month commencing at 7 p.m. or there about. Meetings are held at the Church of the Nazarene at 44th St. NE, and 3rd Ave NE, just behind Dicks Drive In on 45th. Their fire damage has been repaired, and they welcome us back. We encourage visitors and members to help support this free venue with the purchase of some fine coffee and other refreshments downstairs at the Mosaic Community Coffee House.

November 10th 2009 Meeting

We RETURN to the 44th St. Address !!!

The VOTE was taken to RETURN to the Church behind Dicks Drive IN.

Yesterday I was run through the New Procedures.

The official address is: Church of the Nazarene

44th St. NE and 2nd Ave. NE

The Parking lot is ours to FILL UP with Electric Cars.

However... You are Urged to Pass Through the Mosaic Coffee House BEFORE attending the meeting. For the Donations Box, is the only way we PAY for the Hall. Tim the manager has said, we used to have a larger donation when we were just 30 or so meeting in the room down stairs. When our meetings became 50, 60 70... Donations dropped OFF. So he has urged us to patronize the Coffee House, and donate what you can.

November SEVA Meeting

First things First… We need to secure 3 or 4 electric cars for an exhibit and talk at the up coming State Wide 3 day Conference of Industrial Arts Teachers in Renton on the 19th,20th, and 21st of November. We are scheduled to have a talk and an EV-Show-n-Tell on Saturday, the 21st from 11 am on.... So far we have but ONE converted Geo Metro. It would be swell, to have at least one TESLA. Can some one make it ?? Contact me if you can. For folks who might just want to attend, here is the INFO on the conference coordinator:

Then a week earlier, we still have no cars committed for Thursday, November 16th, from 11 am to 2 pm in the Garage of the old Wa.Mu. building on 3rd Ave. They are having an Eco-Fair for all the building tenants, and have asked us to participate..

These TWO items are most important to respond back to me A.S.A.P. Thanks in advance…..

My general person count came close to 70 people attending. VERY good for a rainy November night.

Then we had a wonderful presentation from one of our Seattle Port Commissioners, one Ms. Gael Tarleton and her assistant Dianna Parker. The Port has a Government grant, which was hard sought after, to ELECTRIFY all the ports small vehicles at the airport, and also to hook up ships at the port to Shore Power rather than have them run their diesel on-board generators 23/7 while at dock side. A very meaningful Goal.

Ron Easley give a report on the Fisker Karma which was on display at a prestigious East Side auto Dealer early this week. It is a slick car, but the representatives had little or no technical data to share with Ron. Ron got invited thanks to a friend of a friend, who has an early ORDER for one of the cars. I personally met Dale Rasmussen, Chairman of the Board of FISKER at the Microsoft conference, but did not hear of this exhibit till yesterday.

Jeff Finn also brought us up to date on Political EV matters and meetings he had had with state officials on the matter of “road Tax” and how to collect it for cars which have no Gas Tax Component. Sounds like SEVA will be able to give testimony and input when this matter comes up for discussion in Olympia.

Dave Barden gave a report on “ I-VEVA” ( Island Vashon Electric Vehicle Association) and the large warehouse and shop which they have secured as a technical incubator thanks to friends on the Island. They are meeting almost every week now, and would gladly have SEVA members or other Vashon Island folks join in. You can give Dave an e-mail for further information at: daveb@drizzle.com I am sure they will have their own Web Sight soon.

We gave out some discount coupons for the Seattle International Auto show. Today Wednesday, through Sunday. MC-EV will be there, as well as Pacific EV, and Green Car Company, and TESLA, and the Fisker Karma, and a new 3 wheel from Oregon called the “Pulse” from Eugene.

We also had a report on a new kind of refrigeration and air conditioning, which might have some relevance to EVs from Rob Beresfort of HVAC/Green Team. It works from compressed CO2 with very few moving parts which conventional AC has.

Rich Rudmand and Bruce Sherry brought a new BMS system board for the TS-LiOin Batteries. Very compact and easy to install. Can fit on several different TS Cells.

Stephen Johnsen gave a report of testing one of the TS Cells to total destruction. Over 2000 amps, which is 20 times over the normal rating. They destroyed the cell in the testing, but proved that there were no explosions or fire. Just a loss of all the electrolyte out the vent system. Very interesting.

Stephen also gave a brief story of his participation in the 8 TESLA Roadsters, which drove all the way to Ellensburg to the Wind Farm and back last month. At speed. No over heating, lots of interested motorists along the way.

I brought the group aware that there were no fewer than 3 EVs up for sale in our area presently, so if any one should be interested in a freeway capable Ford Ranger PU, or a GEO Metro, or a Saturn 4 door sedan, get back to us.

I stopped by the Mosaic Coffee house this morning, to see how things went. They had a very good count in the Donation Box, and I think Tim and the Church are glad to have us back.

NISSAN USA will be in Seattle again from December 8th with a Working Model of the Electric LEAF. This co-insides with our December meeting. We hope to coordinate with them to have some kind of Special EV-ent. So far there are no “special plans” for a Holiday Meeting, but there are a few possibilities out there which we are working on.

I think that is about IT. But as always, PLEASE, If I have left something OUT, you can send e-mail to the group, or modify the WIKI Meeting Minutes on our web sight on your own at any time

Till December 8th Have a GREAT Thanks Giving…..
