There are basically two types of energy or fuel resources available for powering society, including out cars.
One is the type which has been dominate for a few centuries which take the form of [[Coal]], [[Oil]], and [[NG|Natural Gas]] which are all '''long time frame solar resources'''. [[Nuclear]] [[Wikipedia:Nuclear Fission]] is also an even longer time frame solar byproduct, though because the materials aren't strictly terrestrial, having been produced in the hearts of long dead stars, it's generally tends to fall into the clean category as it is not carbon based. The other forms of energy which we will eventually be forced to transition to are '''short time frame solar resources''' or near-term solar resources such as PV electric and direct heat [[Solar]], [[Wind]], [[Hydro]], and even forms of [[Bio|bio-fuels]].
