 Happy Holidays Dec 11th SEVA Meeting
-Well Santa really came through !!  I mean in SPADES !  It was cold, yes, dark, and before it was all over it rained, but nothing could have spoiled the, ( if I may say) ELECTRICITY in the air.  There she came, not 8 tinny reindeer, but a huge motor home belonging to none other than Dr. Seal, former chief of the famous Vehicle Research Institute of Western Washington University, Bellingham (retired) .    And what was he dragging ? Not a sleigh, but a WORKING MODEL of the infamous GM EV-1 in silver blue-gray.  After over 2 years of poking, hacking, rewiring, and help from dozens of volunteers, and help from our very own SEVA friends, Stephen Johnson, and Paul Peavyhouse, the car moved under its own power.  The crowd cheered as she moved into position for display, and Dr. Seal sat about explaining the long arduous process.  Watch the Moment of Triumph at YouTube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IA9jD8NIr4Y      Dozens of pictures were taken, and our very own Ryan Fulcher is preparing a 15 minute video of the momentous occasion.

 As if that were not exciting enough, Daniel Davids met a couple last week, from the Seattle area who have actually ordered a TESLA Roadster.  They came to our meeting, talked at length about the ordering process, and told us they were expecting delivery next year.  Also they were one of a few who have been invited down to California to actually drive the TESLA.  Their descriptions left us on the edge of our seats.  But even more interesting than that, is that they know of almost 20 others in the Washington area, who have also put down $50k for their very own Tesla.  Also they explained that before 2009 roles around there will be a Tesla Service Point in the Seattle area ( if all goes well).
 Then it was on to more mundane business.  New Larger Meeting places, longer meeting hours, sub-dividing the meetings into the 4 meaningful subject groups, i.e.
-: Conversions: how to, parts, plans, costs, etc.

 Consensus was, that the meetings should stay all in one meeting, in one place, but that more time should be given to allow these groups to gather and network.   In talking with management at Mosaic Coffee House, they showed us a very LARGE meeting Room up stairs, which may be available.  More on this later.

		+	We discussed the huge EVS-23 Convention in California( 12-2 to 12-5) which many of us attended. Steve Lough, Kent Bakke, Daniel Davids, and Steve Mayeda. Brought back much new data on Li-Ion Batteries and new EV activities. Way too much data to talk about here.

		+	Dave Cloud and I came up with the idea that in 2008, we should have a long-distance EV Rally with prize money for various classes and types of EV’s, perhaps in April of 2008.

		+	Although not mentioned, the money that the parent EAA owes us has finally come through, according to our Treasurer, John Frost, which is much appreciated. Seems the EAA is going to get a new full time Book Keeper to keep things moving more smoothly.
